The Dago Red team will forever be grateful to three men whose efforts have shaped Dago’s entry into the 21st Century. Today’s technology is the cutting edge of the finest that American Aero Space minds have to offer.
In the real world, we who race airplanes and challenge speed records struggle to access the “state of the art” technology due to its rarity and its cost.
The plane was marked with reference stickers and scanned to be processed by a specialized software application.
Steve Crawford knew the value of the technological assets applied to engineering challenges but much more importantly he knew the path to get us to this technology. His “day jobs” at Falcon Jet, Bombardier, Swearingen, and almost everything Canadian that flys, and his “can do” attitude made this an easy exercise for him. After all, Steve spent over 30 yrs working with the best in the world , and being one of those himself he certainly could identify another one.
Steve introduced us to Rob Black whose work at Shape Fidelity has given us the photos we offer here for your viewing enjoyment. Other examples of Robs work are at the most exciting orbits of American AeroSpace contributions.
Once the data is imported, it is assembled in a 3d program. Then it can be used for an array of tests such as virtual wind tunnel, aerodynamics, continuity, stress analysis and much more.
Not only has Rob given us the opportunity to go where “No Man Has Gone Before” he has done the months of modeling work necessary to get us there.
Then came Eddie. What to do with the data ? Steve’s secret weapon Eddie Saurenman was the perfect answer to that question. Eddie continues to model and analyze Dago Red and we are keeping his work secret. Eddie’s resume reads like Steve’s and he’s spent a lot of time playing in the high 500 mph range.
We are very lucky to have men like these who understand the value Dago Red represents as an icon of the American spirit.
Since day one, Dago Red has set the standard while breaking the records. Because we have the opportunity, we assume the duty to make Dago Red even faster.
